Caravan Wheel Clamp includes bolt cutter proof 10mm diameter high tensile chain

10mm diameter high tensile chain manufactured name is, grade 70 high tensile chain - bolt cutter proof chain.

• manufactured to Australian/NZ standard A/NZS 4344:2001
• manufactured from heat treated carbon steel
• the finish is zinc di-chromate, electroplated gold to resist oxidisation (rust)
• cannot be cut with a bolt cutter no matter how long the bolt cutter is

Although the stainless steel shield is an important part of the Caravan Wheel Clamp.

It is the 10mm diameter high tensile chain that secures the stainless steel shield to the leaf springs or tubular frame (most caravan chassis) or another part of the chassis if the vehicle has coil springs and / or piston suspension.

why did we choose to design Caravan Wheel Clamp using 10mm diameter high tensile chain

I have no idea when the first modern wheel clamp was first designed and manufactured.

but what I do know is

In August 2005 when I decided to re-design the wheel clamp, all other wheel clamp brands are made by one of three methods and still are today December 07, 2024.

• 3 arms that wrap around the width of the tyre, Klamp It Wheel Clamp
• a clamp that goes through the wheels rim, Haigh Wheel Clamp
• a rod that goes against the wheels rim, Ark Wheel Clamp

• from our research all but two wheel clamp brands are made in China including the above three brands
• most wheel clamp brands only fit one diameter wheel or tyre width properly
• some say their wheel clamp will fit a 165 - 175mm width tyre but as you must realise it will only fit the 175mm wide tyre properly
  
  this means before purchasing a China made or other imported wheel clamp brand you have to measure the diameter of the wheel, the width of the tyre you want to protect and how far the wheel hub protrudes from the face of the wheel then find a retailer that sells the size you require
• cannot use the wheel clamp on another vehicle with a different diameter wheel or tyre width
• only wraps around the tyre and does not wrap around the vehicles leaf springs, tubular frame or another part of the chassis when the 4wd camper trailer has coil springs and / or piston suspension
• some wheel clamps can be removed by deflating the tyre

To design a wheel clamp that not only wraps around the width of the tyre, it also had to be

We sold our first Australian made Caravan Wheel Clamp to a purchaser in Sydney to protect his 4wd off road camper trailer that had both coil springs and a piston suspension.

The stainless steel shield and a single length of 10mm diameter high tensile chain and one of two high security locks based on if you purchase the Enforcer Caravan Wheel Clamp or Supreme Caravan Wheel Clamp.

Place the high tensile chain through the holes in the stainless steel shield then wrap the chain around the wheel and leaf springs, tubular frame (most caravan chassis) or another part of the chassis if the 4wd vehicle has coil springs and / or piston suspension.

how to stop thieves stealing your valuable towable vehicle

We could have included thin 4mm or 6mm diameter mild steel chain, most people use for security, with each Caravan Wheel Clamp.

If we did both Enforcer Caravan Wheel Clamp and Supreme Caravan Wheel Clamp would be about 52% less to buy but there was no reason to do so.

The Caravan Wheel Clamp would be just another visual deterrent wheel clamp as other imported wheel clamp brands.

For about five dollars at Bunnings, Mitre 10 or any other hardware shop a thief can buy a 12 inch bolt cutter to cut thin 4mm or 6mm diameter mild steel chain and your $10,000 to $90,000 or more vehicle is stolen.

A cheap imported wheel clamp made from thin mild steel or about 0.2mm mild steel tube is going to stop thieves stealing your $10,000 to $90,000 or more vehicle then think again.
